Gingerie eased herself to a lie, enjoying the soft, cool clovers on her side and legs. "Gingerie." Already she was becoming quite fond of this little creature, although she hated to admit it. "Go on and keep eating. I can see you're hungry." She gently lowered her head and felt a rush of relaxation pass over her body, her head hitting the ground with a soft, "Thud". She closed her eyes, her ears still twitching to every movement, every sound.

Flash watched the foal eating. He wanted just one mouthful of that fresh alfalpha. He had come a long way from the busy and often frightening California coast to the cool and quiet Clover meadows. He hadn't eaten in three days and he was starving for food. He walked over to the foal. "Excuse me," Flash said in a low voice. "I was wondering, could I please have some of your grass? I have come a long way."

Her eyes popped open and she quickly put her front legs up on the clovers, then her back, tossed her head, and stared at the horse before her eyes flashed and her head tossed again. She walked between the stallion and the filly, saying in almost a growl, but her voice holding a respetable athority, "You may eat farther over there." Her body being tall as it is, the whole filly's body can be seen under the mare's stomache and chest, though Gingerie keeps the distance between the stranger and the little body behind her. Her nose jerks slightly to the past a little over from them.

(*whistles* Active forum.) Tobias was thoroughly looking over every equine present, now at a complete halt. Very crowded all of a sudden, he thought, amused. He wondered what had happened, leaving a stallion dead and a foal alone. (Sorry I couldn't make it a little longer. Hard when there've been like 15 posts since the last time you checked. This morning. )

Feeling rather put out, Flash walked wearily past Gingerie murmuring to her as he walked by, "Is this your foal? She doesn't look much like you."

Gingerie eyed the stallion, her eyes flashing even brighter at her defense against him. She answers rather calmly, in her cold voice, "No, she's not my foal, and neither do I wish to have one. But her sire died. She needs protection." She tossed her head once again, "Someone's got to do it. And I don't see you making any move to."

In a low voice, Flash said, "I have journeyed here alone and friendless. I would be more than happy to be this foal's temporary protector, but if you don't want me to... (sniff sniff cry sob )

Almost too quickly, Gingerie went back on her hind legs, rearing up. She neighed loudly, glaring down at the stallion, then drops back down with a loud, "Stomp-stomp!". Her voice was even colder and meaner than before, "You won't do it right, and I'm not taking any chances."

Harsh, thought Tobias. "So what's your experience?" He put in cooly, feeling bad for the other stallion.

Juliette's eyes got wide with fright and she started whimpering. She started backing away from Gingerie. She suddenly became scared of her. Now she just sat down and cried more than ever.

Gingerie looked back at Juliette, her heart squeezing with even more compassion. Then she looked to the stallion, speaking to both Tobias and Flash, saying in a very soft, kind voice, "I'm sorry. I get defensive too e-easily." She almost twitched at the words, not used to saying those kinds of things. She then turned to Juliette and gently nudged her, murmering for her ears alone, "I'm sorry, little one."

"That's all right," said Flash. "I've gotten used to others yelling at me. I've heard worse. His voice sounded bitter

She sighed softly as she nuzzled Juliette again, feeling horrible. "I haven't had such a good past with males, so I'm sorry.. Again."

Tobias wondered where the stallion had come from. Used to it? That puzzled him, but he didn't say anything about it. At least the mare had calmed down, for the filly's sake anyway. Tobias didn't mind her temper.

Suddenly Gingerie looked at Tobias, feeling a sudden urge to. She studied him, not knowing she was staring. She had a new kind of smile in her eyes. A new light. Soon, the smile reached her lips, but she quickly dismissed it. Who is he? she wondered. Why is he so kind about the filly? Is he her sire?. No.. impossible.. She thought again, still staring at him absently. ((Screw the period after the question mark. )) FOR THE LAST TIME NO MORE DOUBLE POSTING!!!!!!! Thank you Vanessa
