Juliette galloped around and around. "Where could they be? Where could they BE?" Juliette cried, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Why would they leave me? Why?" She looked and looked, but she could not find her sire or her dame. "Where are they? Where?" She was so tired from running. She sat down and looked around. There, just a few yards from her was a horse just laying there, limp. She walked over to it and saw it was not breathing. "No..." She cried in dismay. She started weeping painfully. It was her sire. What was she going to do? Her sire had been killed trying to protect her, and her dame was nowhere to be found. All she could do was try to survive, for winter was approaching.

Gingerie trotted up to the nearby river and lowered her head to the soothing water, sipping slowly and thirstily, tired from her day's run, "I wonder if any other people are here to use this stream.. Oh well."

Gliding through the sunlit skies and gazing at the pinkish purple hues across the clouds, Afaerelle's senses were heightened as the morning sun arose. A loner by nature, she usually travelled unaccompanied and enjoyed her own thoughts. However, today she felt a little uneasy....as if her perfect morning was not quite as it seemed. She glanced down at the earth in search of a private landing place. A gentle stream and clearing caught her eye. No one was present but still she couldn't help glancing now and then over her shoulder.

Tobias cantered leisurely through the meadows, enjoying the beautiful morning, when he thought he spied a small shape standing in the distance. He changed direction towards it, retaining his pace patiently, as was usual. As he came closer he could tell that it was a foal, and suddenly noticed the still form on the ground. A lone foal... he pitied it.

Gingerie finished her drinking and was now gently grazing from the green grass next to the shore, relaxed as relaxed can be. She then heard someone coming, and lifted her head quickly, rearing up. She darted off down the stream in a full-wind gallop, her mane and tail trailing behind her. Gingerie gained about fifty yards before she stopped and leaned back down to graze once again, merely glancing over her shoulder to where she once was. She wondered aloud, "I guess I wasn't the only one wanting to drink from the creek." And then went back to her grazing, obviously not very worried about it, though she was curious.

Juliette quickly turned around. Startled to see someone there, she tried to gallop and turn around at the same time and succeeded at stumbling over her own legs, and doing a somersault. She stood back up again, this time ready to face the other horse if it turned out to be trying to hurt her. It wasn't that she thought she would win in a fight, but she was hoping that by some miracle it might run away.

Oh, these Earthbounders are soooo tiresome.....so worried about this and worried about that. I SHOULD go down and see what the trouble is; but I'm not sure I want the trouble of being involved with them, hmmmm.

Gingerie looked around and spotted a foal and two other horses, and began to prance over. She stopped half-way there though, thinking to herself, I wonder what happened.. as she saw the still horse on the ground. For a -very- brief minute, she knew compassion for the little foal. Not reconizing the other horse, she sped up and walked right past the little foal and the other horse, nudging the lifeless filly's sire, her eyes once again turning tender as she realized the situation. She looked up at the foal and murmered, in her gentle voice, "I'm sorry for your loss." Then, all at once, she began to walk away, not wanting to get more involved, although her heart squeezed as she wondered where the filly's mother was. She tossed her head suddenly as she tried to hold in her own tears, not wanting to look weak.

Juliette promptly cantered over to the brown thoroughbred and hid behind her. She quickly felt at home, and a strange sense of security and safety flushed over her little body.

Gingerie kept trotting, her eyes only on the plain land ahead of her until she reached a patch of clovers. Her eyes scanned the scenery, something she felt she had to do, but wasn't sure why. A quick duck of her head made her mane fly up into the air, then sail down, falling gracefully to the right side of her neck. She began to hungrily chew on the clovers.

Juliette kept trotting behind the thoroughbred mare. She looked back at the other horse and hoped it would not follow. By the time she had turned her head back around she had rammed into the mare's hind quarters.

Gingerie didn't so much as glance behind her before her deep, soothing voice hit the foal's young ears. "Go on and eat, child. I'll guard you for the time being." She went back to eating, still not looking back, her ears twitching to every sound, even the own chewing of her mouth.

The filly was startled to hear her voice, but she immediately obeyed.

"Umm, excuse me..." Juliette said timidly, "What is your name?"
